Building Maintenance

It’s a chance to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that the SummerJoy experience is accessible to every child, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.

Building for the Future: Jenkintown United Methodist Church Fundraising Campaign

For over a century, Jenkintown United Methodist Church (JUMC) has been a cornerstone of faith, fellowship, and service in our community. Our historic building has been a place of worship, refuge, and outreach, hosting countless worship services, community events, and charitable programs. However, like any structure that has stood the test of time, our church building requires essential maintenance to ensure it remains safe, functional, and welcoming for future generations.

Today, we launch our “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign to address two critical needs:

  1. Repairing our aging roof – The current roof has served us well but is now in urgent need of repair to prevent leaks, water damage, and structural issues.

  2. Installing a new central air cooling system in the sanctuary – Our current cooling system is outdated and inefficient, making summer services and events uncomfortably warm.

With an estimated total cost of $150,000, we are calling on our congregation, local businesses, and community partners to help us raise the necessary funds. By investing in these projects, we will not only preserve our beloved church but also enhance our ability to serve our members and neighbors for years to come.

Why This Matters

Roof Repair: Protecting Our Sacred Space: The roof is the first line of defense against the elements, and ours has begun to show significant wear. Small leaks have already caused minor water damage, and without immediate action, the problem will worsen, leading to:

  • Structural damage to walls, ceilings, and support beams
  • Mold and mildew growth, which poses health risks
  • Higher long-term costs if repairs are delayed

Why This Matters Even More

New Central Air Cooling System: Comfort for Worship and Community

Our sanctuary is the heart of our church, where we gather for worship, weddings, funerals, and community events. However, the lack of proper cooling makes summer services and gatherings difficult, especially for elderly members and young children. A new central air system will:

  • Improve comfort for worshippers and visitors
  • Increase accessibility for those sensitive to heat
  • Extend usability for community events (concerts, meetings, emergency cooling centers)
